AM Best has affirmed its ratings of two major ecclesiastical insurers, Ecclesiastical Insurance Office and Ansvar Insurance Company. Ecclesiastical has maintained its A- (excellent) rating, outlook stable, while Ansvar has maintained its B (very good), outlook stable, rating. Ansvar recorded an underwriting profit in 2002 for the first time since 1998. Though operating in a similar sector, Ansvar tends to sell its business via insurance brokers while Ecclesiastical tends to sell direct.
