Keeping up with faith.

There are many religions practised in the UK and the fact that this is not reflected by the cover available means brokers should get up-to-date and plug the gap in the church insurance sector, says Diane Smyth.

The Census for 2001 has just been collected and it remains to be seen
whether enough people described themselves as Jedis of the Star Wars
religion for it to be officially declared a new UK faith.


Even without the help of George Lucas, however, religion in the UK has
moved far beyond the traditional Catholic, Anglican, Baptist and Methodist
churches.


According to figures from Congregational and General - a leading insurer
in the churches market - there were 13,960 non-traditional Christian
churches
