US-based Assurex International and Europe's Synergy have formed an
alliance, creating what they claim is the world's largest privately held
insurance brokerage group. The new group will employ 12,000 staff
worldwide and generate premiums of £7.7bn annually. It will give clients
access to local brokers, insurance products, and services, and is likely
to rival Aon and Marsh in international insurance.
