The Financial Services Authority has advised brokers concerned about meeting the deadlines for reporting financial data in eXtensible Business Reporting Language to seek advice from IT specialists.

The FSA said firms should begin collecting data from 1 April 2005 and submit data from July 2005. It is confident the timetable will be met but admitted it lacked IT expertise and said firms should seek professional help.

The advice came following a survey by IT services provider Aspective, which cast
