Lloyd's said it intended to toughen up over slack underwriting
practices in the wake of severe criticism by Lloyd's name and chief
executive of Independent Insurance Michael Bright.


Mr Bright, speaking at the Association of Lloyd's Member's annual
conference last week, said that Lloyd's underwriters and agencies were
both incompetent and arrogant.
