Goldman Sachs buys into Clear as ECI exits

The private equity business within Goldman Sachs Asset Management has signed up to buy a stake in Clear Group, the broker has confirmed.

Clear has been backed by ECI Partners for the past four years and the PE firm has now exited.

The terms of the deal have not been revealed. Since ECI invested in 2018 Clear has tripled its gross written premium to over £330m.

As revealed by Insurance Age the acquisitive broker bought ProAktive last week in its 34th purchase since being formed in 2001. The deal was part of its national expansion plans with ProAktive cited as Clear’s “gateway to the North”. It followed hard on the heels of
