Ogden: Brokers and insurers want discount rate of betwen 0 - 1%

Poll suggests two thirds think the rate should settle at between 0 - 1%.

Nearly two thirds of brokers, insurers and claims managers want an increase in the “contentious” discount rate to between 0 - 1%, according to a survey by BLM.

60% of those polled said they wanted the rate to settle between 0 - 1%.

In February the then Lord Chancellor, Liz Truss, reduced the rate from 2.5% to minus 0.75%, effective from March, in a move that provoked anger across the insurance market.

Aviva doubling down for customers, says Martin
