FCA issues warning on spoofed email
Regulator urges recipients to delete the email sent on Friday without opening it.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has confirmed that its email system has been "spoofed", an incident where a malicious party impersonates another device in order to launch attacks to steal data or spread malware.
According to an FCA spokesperson this affected one email address at the regulator - press.office@fca.org.uk.
On Friday the watchdog published a statement which warned of the issue, explaining that an email was sent out without the organisation's acknowledgement.
