ABI's Huw Evans says UK benefits from EU membership

Director general notes the UK sells £21bn more in insurance and long-term saving products to the EU than it sells to us.

The UK benefits from jobs, tax revenue and economic prosperity as a result of being part of the European Union according to Association of British (ABI) Insurers director general Huw Evans.

He described the UK as the undisputed financial services centre of the EU and a global insurance centre of excellence which has a major influence in shaping Europe's rules.

His comments came as Prime Minister David Cameron announced there will be a referendum on 23 June to decide whether or not the UK should
