Joint managing director general insurance – UK retail at Howden, Stuart Rootham, on Hyperion’s takeover of R K Harrison and why acquisition is not the only route to growth
Stuart Rootham admits to feeling a range of emotions before Hyperion Insurance Group bought R K Harrison.
He joined the latter in 1996, was promoted to the board seven years later and was managing director of the firm’s UK retail insurance division before Hyperion’s interest became publicly known in late 2014. Hyperion, which included commercial and professional indemnity broker Howden, completed the merger in April last year by acquiring 100% of R K Harrison’s share capital.
