JLT says Towergate was never in its sights

Broker not interested in consolidator despite snapping up some elements of the business.

JLT bosses have admitted that they were never interested in Towergate when it came up for sale last year despite the acquisitive nature of the business.

Commercial director James Twining said the decision not to bid for Towergate was "one of the easier" decisions the team had to make adding that JLT focuses on acquiring more specialist businesses so was not tempted by the surprise announcement that the consolidator was for sale.
