Broker Expo 2014: Brokers call for greater unity in insurance

Three businesspeople meet and shake hands

Panelist at Broker Expo 2014 urged insurance market to unite on issues such as transparency and regulation.

Brokers slammed the insurance sector for its disunity at the Broker Expo in Coventry.

Ashwin Mistry, president of the Chartered Insurance Institute, told delegates at the event's Question Time session that "insurers all have their own agenda" and "egos get in the way" of presenting a united front.

When addressing a question on data standards he commented: "We can't accept in a room full of 16 insurers what we should be doing. We do not take these matters seriously enough."
