London ghost broker sentenced after Gumtree scam

Mohammad Samad Ali handed an eight-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years, and 200 hours unpaid work.

A London ‘ghost broker' has been handed a suspended jail sentence for posting fake car insurance adverts on Gumtree.

Mohammad Samad Ali today received an eight-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years and 200 hours unpaid work.

He was charged with fraud by false representation and possession of a controlled article for fraud use and pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey. 

Ali admitted that he had posted five adverts offering cheap car insurance on Gumtree's classifieds website to trick
