Willis profits slip and UK business falls

Willis Group has revealed a fall in half year profits to $324m [£210.8m] for the start of 2013, down from $333m in 2012.

The broking giant did however see total revenues for the six months rise to $1.94bn (H1 2012: $1.86bn).

Commission and fees at the broker rose to $1.93bn in the period, a 4.8% increase over the first half of 2012.

Willis' international segment, which includes the UK's figures, saw a 3.2% uplift to $547m.

While not revealing figures for the UK the company admitted that in the second quarter of 2013 "operations in the UK declined low single digits".
