Teen ghost broker handed 12-month sentence
A teenager who tried to sell worthless vehicle insurance policies has been given a 12-month conditional discharge at City of London Magistrates.
Shujeh Miah, 19, admitted to posting four adverts on classifieds website Gumtree in an attempt to trick drivers into paying for bogus policies.
He failed to attract any customers, but one internet user became suspicious of his ads and reported them to the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).
Detectives from the IFED arrested Mr Miah in May 2012 and seized a computer which contained falsified insurance certificates.
Mr Miah was charged and pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud by false
