HomeServe profits rise but falling customers impact revenue

HomeServe has reported an operating profit of £27.1m for the six months ended September 2012.

This is an improvement on the £24.3m recorded for the same period of 2011.

Revenue rose by 8% over the second and third quarters of 2012 to £229.6m, up from £213.1m in 2011.

UK customer numbers fell to 2.5m during the half year ended September 2012, compared with 3m customers recorded in the same period of the previous year.

Its UK operation’s revenue subsequently fell by 11% to £134.5m over the first half of the 2013 financial year (HY12: £150.9m).

Aviva doubling down for customers, says Martin

Aviva is committed to pushing on with an “absolute focus on customer” and will continue “doubling down”, David Martin, managing director for UK commercial and chief distribution officer, told Insurance Age as he teased a “major new proposition” pencilled in for the end of the third quarter will catch brokers’ eyes.
