Three in four people contacted by "nuisance" CMCs

More than 75% of people have been targeted by claims management companies, a survey by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has found.

Some 78% of people have been contacted, highlighting the "dysfunctional compensation system" in the UK, the ABI warned.

In London this figure rose to 82% while 92% of people in total said the messages were not relevant to them.

Contact entailed enquiring about possible accidents and the mis-selling of payment protection insurance.

According to the ABI, three in four people back a ban on these unsolicited messages in a bid to reduce fraudulent whiplash claims.

Peach and owner grow in 2025
