Which? accuses insurers of taking consumers for a ride
Consumer watchdog Which? has accused several insurers of charging customers exorbitant hidden fees for basic policy changes and renewals.
The group reviewed the terms and conditions of 39 car insurers and 34 home insurers and reported that customers are facing “exorbitant” charges to make straightforward changes to policies.
Which? gave the example of both Axa and Swiftcover charging a flat fee of £30 to update address details or change a vehicle, and highlighted the fact that 50plus Insurance Services and Hastings customers face renewal fees of £10 and £5 respectively.
