Bloomer puts down roots at UK General

UK General has appointed ex-Ecclesiastical schemes director Tony Bloomer as head of commercial schemes.

He will join in April and report to commercial managing director Cathie Bruce. Mr Bloomer's redundancy from Ecclesiastical was announced in November last year.

The Leeds-based specialist insurer has also promoted Simon Tate to the role of chief operating officer in the non-commercial schemes and affinities unit, reporting to Neil Martin, managing director of schemes and affinities.

Both Mr Bloomer and Mr Tate will take responsibility for their respective units, covering underwriting and product

Emily Shepperd, chief operating officer of the Financial Conduct Authority, has said the regulator was “overwhelmed” at the response and amount of feedback to its transparency proposals, and that it is going to “really take our time” when considering any possible next steps.
