Biba responds to sexual harassment in broking claim

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (Biba) has responded to an article in The Guardian that labelled insurance broking an old boy’s network where women were ill treated.

In the article an unnamed female broker reported that she had suffered instances of physical and verbal harrassment, that banking seemed enlightened in comparison with insurance and that she found the industry shocking at times.

She said: "Insurance is very much an old boys' network, particularly so on the broking side, and women are not well-treated. I have become quite thick-skinned, but still I find the industry shocking at times."
