Markerstudy adds to pawn offering

Markerstudy Group, primarily known for insurance, has expanded its retail division with the acquisition of Colchester-based pawnbroker E J Markham & Son.

Markerstudy also bought Auto Windscreens in February this year and followed the purchase with the acquisition of Tonbridge Coachworks Vehicle Repair Group in June.

The acquisition, which Markerstudy said it believed to be the oldest pawnbrokers in Essex, has joined the group's retail division alongside Wessex Jewellers and Pawnbrokers.

The company said that although it was known primarily for insurance the acquisition showed "that the other strings to its bow are being lubricated, and liberally"
