Marsh (Isle of Man) has claimed to be the first insurance broker on the island to achieve chartered status from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

The news followed the firm's celebration in 2010 of 35 years of providing risk and insurance services to the Isle of Man's businesses.

Sarah Hewitt, chief executive officer of Marsh (Isle of Man), commented: "Marsh places a great deal of emphasis on nurturing and developing its colleagues, equipping them with the skills they need to work to the highest professional standards globally.

"We're very proud to be the first recipients of the CII's Chartered Insurance Broker status in the Isle of Man.
