The personal lines market is well and truly established on the internet, but the SME market is lagging behind. Edward Murray explains why now is the time to go online before the big players move in.

Now that the personal lines market is swamped with meerkats, opera singers, nodding dogs and red phones, there is a feeling that the SME market is dragging its feet when it comes to using the internet to its best advantage.

However, is this really true, and for brokers looking to adapt to the changing trading environment, where are the future opportunities in selling SME cover?
Perhaps the first thing to remember is that the personal lines sector did not turn into an electronic playground

Aviva doubling down for customers, says Martin

Aviva is committed to pushing on with an “absolute focus on customer” and will continue “doubling down”, David Martin, managing director for UK commercial and chief distribution officer, told Insurance Age as he teased a “major new proposition” pencilled in for the end of the third quarter will catch brokers’ eyes.
