Road safety minister addresses Biba parliamentary reception

The Government is to open up data held by the DVLA in an effort to combat motor fraud, road safety minister, Mike Penning told delegates at a parliamentary reception hosted by the British Insurance Brokers’ Association.

The move follows the introduction of continuous insurance which Mr Penning described as one of the largest changes the industry had seen. He admitted: "It is going to be a huge shock for the British motorist but will help drive uninsured drivers off the road. It will drive down costs for insurers which I expect to be passed down. There is a scepticism around here that it will not be passed [down] but I have all the assurances."
