MP banned after driving without insurance

westminster parliament

Bolton South East MP Yasmin Qureshi has been banned from driving for six months after being caught using her mobile phone while driving without insurance, according to the BBC.

The report stated that the Labour MP had been stopped by police in Bolton on 10 May for using her mobile phone behind the wheel. When her details were checked it was found she had no insurance.

Her solicitor told Bolton Magistrates' Court on 18 August that the MP believed her insurance had been automatically renwed whereas in fact it had lapsed on 9 April.

The Bolton MP already had nine points on her licence and has now been fined £1,250 plus costs and banned from driving for six months.
