The British Insurance Awards 2010 - winners round up

1800 people saw Allianz become general insurer of the year at the annual British Insurance Awards.

Fortis, Hiscox and QBE were all shortlisted but lost out to Allianz in one of the 19 award categories at the Royal Albert Hall.

Heath Lambert scooped the commercial broker title and Rias was voted the personal lines broker of the year.

Upon receiving the achievement award, Motor Insurers' Bureau chief executive Ashton West admitted that for once in his life he was speechless.

Elsewhere, Avantia won broking initiative award for its online home insurance offering Homeprotect and CFC Underwriting

End of Year Review 2025: Peach’s Ryan Bendelow

Ryan Bendelow, director of commercial at Peach, is sad to see the RSA name consigned to the insurance brand graveyard, nominates Aviva’s Michelle Taylor as the insurance personality of the year, and is worried about an increase in IPT in 2026.
