QBE to dispose of personal lines motor account

Book represents about 10% of overall motor account

QBE has confirmed to Insurance Age that it is to pull out of the UK personal lines motor market, including personal motorbikes.

The book makes up 10% of the Australian insurer's overall motor account in the UK but the decision has been made to either sell it or put it into run-off. It is thought that QBE are actively looking for a buyer but is prepared to simply close the account if need be.

Staff at the Chelmsford-based operation have been informed of the decision but QBE would not reveal how
