Electronic insurance trading is still needlessly bogged down in a morass of different systems. Why can't insurers sort it out?

The insurance industry is not advancing as quickly as it should. It
really is not making as much use of technology as other comparable
industries - we should be doing more with the Internet and there should be
more co-operation among players in the industry.


It seems to have been accepted by everyone that one of the main hindrances
to progress in the industry is the presence of the software house in the
chain of distribution, and I think that this is certainly true.


But why are they a problem
