The Treasury has poured cold water on a last minute attempt by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to gain a travel agent style exemption for secondary intermediary chartered surveyors.
RICS launched a campaign pressing for the exemption and had urged its members to lobby their local MPs to press for a change in the FSA's position on the sale of general insurance by secondary intermediaries.
