This has been an eventful year for the broker market. The recent news of the problems being faced by AIG has reminded us that the insurance industry is far from immune to today's economic challenges and has left many players in the market with many questions that they would like answered. As we all face the tests of the current market, the need to share information across the sector is stronger than ever if we are to come through unscathed and the PB Management Event has been developed to meet that need.
This month, the PB Management Event is being rolled out across the country with a high-level focus on business intelligence for broker managers. Four regional morning Management Events will provide a program of strategic perspectives from expert speakers, a forum for networking with the leaders in the UK broking sector and an exhibition showcasing the most innovative insurers and service providers operating in the broking sector. The opportunity will also be provided for attendees to engage in Q&A sessions to ensure that you take what you need from the event.
Each Management Event will feature a case study presentation from a successful local broker, including Paul Anscombe of James Hallam and John Batty of Caunce O'Hara. Other highlights on the agenda include an interactive panel session chaired by Peter Staddon, technical services director at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, regulatory update presentations from the Financial Services Authority (Terry Saunders and Richard Corbyn, both managers in the small firms division), presentations from Grant Thornton (Peter Allen and Trevor Newbery, partners in the firm's financial services group) and the chance to learn from Peninsula Business Services (Mark Owen, solicitor) how to help your clients succeed in the management of health and safety and minimise their exposures to risk.
The PB Management Event will take place at four venues this month: Bolton (De Vere Whites, 7 October), Harrogate (Cedar Court Hotel, 8 October), Weston-super-Mare (Winter Gardens, 15 October) and London (Lord's Cricket Ground, 16 October). Brokers can register for free at pb-managementevent.co.uk.
The London event will also feature a tour of Lord's cricket ground sponsored by Swinton.
