Towergate Strovers has taken over the Dentists' Insurance Committee,
the insurance arm of the Dentists' Provident Society, for an undisclosed
sum.


Strovers already provided cover for dentists' homes and surgeries and has
run DIC for several years. DIC's staff of three will continue to work in
the society's London offices.


The takeover was the 21st by Strovers' parent Towergate Underwriting,
which was formed in 1997 from the management buy-out of Economic
Insurance.


The insurer said it was negotiating
