Personal and commercial lines insurer MMA Insurance has bought Swinton, the predominantly personal lines intermediary chain, from Royal & SunAlliance Insurance.
Swinton managing director Glyn Jones is leaving the company after seven years, with Patrick Smith, currently chairman of internet intermediary its4me, taking over as chief executive. Swinton will be run independently of MMA by a new company, MMA Holdings, formed specifically for this purpose.
