St Paul has won the contract to run the Law Society's professional
indemnity scheme.

The insurer, which beat 15 rivals to the contract, will now have the
opportunity to take a substantial share of the £250m-worth of solicitors
PI premiums that will be up for tender in the open market from 1
September.

A total of 15,000 firms will have the choice between being insured under
the Managing General Agency scheme, which is being run by St Paul, or by
an individual approved insurer.
