Insurer Fortis has increased its gross written premium in household in the first quarter of the year...

Insurer Fortis has increased its gross written premium in household in the first quarter of the year by 57%, compared to the same time last year. Household now amounts to 25% of Fortis' business and GWP for Q1 was £41.4m.

Barry Smith, chief executive of Fortis, said: "This reflects an increase in sales through our provincial broker network, and we have started to reap the benefits of our deal with Age Concern, which came on board in February."
