The European Union (EU) Competition Commission has raised concerns over conflicts of interest and the lack of transparency in the way that insurance brokers are remunerated, following its final report on the business insurance sector.

The commission said this had raised a number of issues for the functioning of the market, and may inflate prices and reduce choice, in particular for small to medium-sized enterprises.
