A Suffolk pensioner who took it upon himself to build his own flood defences has seen his efforts 'damned' by the local council.
Peter Boggis, 72, has spent #50,000 to protect not only his own property but also nine others on the coast at Easton Bevans near Southwold, moving earth to shore up an eroding cliff-face.
As part of the work, Mr Boggis needs to bring 24,000 tons of clay to secure the beach beneath the cliff, but now the local council has stepped in.
Waveney Council said it feared the work
