Greater numbers of consumers would travel abroad without insurance if the travel industry was regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), according to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).
ABTA's submission to the Treasury's review on the sale of travel insurance has argued that the burden of FSA regulation would be both expensive and bureaucratically onerous.
A spokesman for ABTA said its research on customer complaints found there was virtually no evidence that the travel
