Payment protection market urged to respond to Government consultation before deadline

As the period for the Treasury’s consultation on Simple Financial Products draws to a close, the protection insurance industry has been urged to respond or live with the consequences.

With a deadline of the 25 March 2011, the consultation has been tasked with considering the Government's proposed principles for a new category of simple products, giving consumers a straightforward option for comparing and buying products.

The Treasury said: "Simple products should ensure that people understand the products they need, help them make better choices, and encourage competition in the market."

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
