Products: La Playa tests its new research and development product in the lab

R&D spending is necessary if a company is to retain its competitive position

La Playa has produced a new product designed specifically for start-up, early stage and SME research and development businesses.

The cover provided by Lab Portfolio, which is underwritten by Catlin, starts with employers’ and public liability and expands to cover the business’ needs as it grows. The product can be extended to provide a range of covers from property protection and business interruption to terrorism insurance and medical malpractice.

According to La Playa, as well as the usual business liabilities and risks to property and equipment, labs operating in areas such as biotechnology, micro and nano-engineering
