Products: Willis offers hotels cover against loss of reputation

Willis has teamed up with Lloyd’s of London underwriter Kiln to create Hotel Reputation Protection 2.0, a new policy designed to limit the financial fallout from negative public relations exposure for hotels.

The broker claimed that in the world of new media “bad news travels fast ruining a hotel’s reputation and balance sheet, overnight”. The cover protects against brand damage from a range of potential incidents including the death or permanent physical disability of a guest, and food poisoning caused by malicious or accidental contamination.

The policy, which will respond whether the incident is reported via traditional or new media, uses a hotel industry measure of lost revenue based on revenue
