The last time Michael Rea, the UK retail CEO of Arthur J Gallagher, was interviewed by Insurance Age he was in the thick of it at Towergate owned Cullum Capital Ventures (CCV). Then, in 2011, Rea was described as guarded and being someone who did not give a lot away.

As it stands Rea remains a clever operator and keeps his powder dry. But this time around he does weigh in on some thornier issues, such as the curse of the retail CEO role at Arthur J Gallagher – it’s had five CEOs in five years
