For most of my life, whenever I was in a group and I mentioned I worked in insurance, someone had a story to tell about a bad experience with a claim they had made. These consisted of lower settlements than they expected, declinature of claims – which tended to be maintenance rather than sudden damage – and unnecessary delay (usually by asking many questions).
The other hot topic was loss of no claims discount (NCD) following a motor claim because the public perception was that it was a no blame
