When the laws regarding legal aid change in April next year, brokers need to be ready to advise clients on legal expenses cover, explains Paul Asplin

I do not believe that all brokers fully appreciate the even greater role that they will have in ensuring that clients have access to justice, which will arise following the implementation of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act (LASPO). This act, along with the proposed increase in the small claims limit for personal injury claims, will impose severe restrictions on the public’s ability to pursue legitimate legal rights.
