Statistics from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) show the true scale of the increasing problem of fire damage to properties: In 2008, fire claims rose by 16% on 2007 to a record £1.3bn, equating to £3.4m every day.The ABI's figures also reveal that commercial fire damage alone costs the industry £865m, up a staggering 16% on the previous year, emphasising the importance of businesses reducing and managing their fire risks.
