As I was in the process of putting the August edition to bed, the news was broken that direct insurance provider Hastings Direct had been fined £735,000 by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for failing to treat its customers fairly. The regulator's move was in relation to Hastings cancelling around 4,550 incorrectly priced car insurance policies.
