Allianz GWP falls 4.2%

GWP at Allianz dropped 4.2%, while operating profit saw a 17.7% rise to reach £121m in Q3 2016, up from £102.8m in the same period last year.

Gross written premium fell by 4.2% at Allianz following its withdrawal from direct car and home to £1.61bn for Q3 2016 (Q3 2015: £1.69bn).

Allianz UK chief executive Jon Dye, pictured,  admitted that "it wasn't any sort of surprise" and that the business was now running off renewals.

He explained: "That is just naturally pulling our renewals down from where we were this time last year when we growing it".

Commercial lines GWP increased slightly to £829.8m (Q3 2015: £824m) while personal lines
