Cannabis farmer jailed for insurance fraud

Essex-based electrician found with £14,000 of cannabis plants at his home when arrested on suspicion of insurance fraud.

An electrician who farmed cannabis in his back garden and conned his insurer out of £15,000 by repeatedly reporting that his work power tools had been stolen from his van has been jailed for 20 months at Basildon Crown Court today.

According to the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED), Kevin Turner, from Essex, had earlier admitted to the production of controlled Class B drugs and four counts of fraud by false representation.
