Towergate confirms takeover bid approaches

Consolidator appoints Evercore and Rothschild as joint advisers.

Towergate has appointed Evercore and Rothschild as joint advisers following takeover approaches.

The consolidator did not reveal any details such as parties involved in the approaches but said the advisers would "support the evaluation of proposals".

Alastair Lyons, interim executive chairman of Towergate, commented: "Towergate is a unique asset for someone to own in this industry.

"The approaches we have received underline this and are testament to the group's strength in its primary markets."
