Eleven arrested for personal injury claims fraud

Nationwide day of action comes as insurance fraud costs policyholders £50 a year.

Police have today arrested 11 people suspected of making false or exaggerated personal injury insurance claims.

The arrests have come as part of a ‘trip and slip' day of action by the City of London Police's Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).

The largest claim under examination is £200,000 for ongoing medical treatment supposedly needed to treat back and leg injuries suffered in a bus crash in Pakistan four years ago.

Other claims under investigation include £15,000 for ligament
