ERS takes Byford from Axa to lead retail underwriting

New recruit brings over 18 years’ experience to the role.

ERS, formerly Equity Red Star, has appointed Jon Byford as head of retail underwriting, joining from Axa where he was head of motor personal lines intermediary.

His insurance career spans over 18 years including roles at NIG and Lloyd's.

At ERS Byford will lead the retail underwriting division, including its modern private car, light commercial vehicle, motorcycle and motor breakdown business. He will join at the end of August and report to underwriting director, Mark Bacon.
